Button, button, who’s got the button? (Yes I am old enough to have actually played that game.) I’ve been collecting buttons for years. More than a few old button tins have found their way into my hands, and I’ve always enjoyed sorting through them and looking for treasures, and buttons that match. Rarely, I will find vintage buttons the way …
Buttons
Collecting vintage buttons is its own pleasure. I really like to sort things…there’s something about the process that both calms and energizes. The more I sort, the more I see. Color, size, style, shank or flat, material, and the best…matching! If you want to build a stash of buttons, let people know that you are hunting for them. Many gracious …
Stringing buttons in chains
This week I had visitors in my studio…Katie (“I’m 5.” “No, you’re 4 and a half.”) and her younger sister Isabelle. Looking around my stash to find playthings, my eyes landed on my sorted buttons. I dumped the bags of blue and brown buttons into one bin, and immediately Katie said, “Why are you doing that?” “To keep you occupied” …
Vintage Buttons Rescued from the Tin!

Starting from a box of tags I cut last year, and some buttons. Just make something. It was just a small thing, but still:
Button and Netting Necklace

I took a class from Laura several years ago through the Great Lakes Beadworkers Guild, and …
Buttons, buttons, I’ve got the buttons
I brought back a bag of buttons from Mom’s this past weekend, and there are some great treasures here. I think they are plastic. Many are still on cards. Judging from the packaging, I think I’m looking at a collection from the 1950’s-60’s. Lots of large, chunky buttons.
Joyful Heart
This is a crazy-quilt piece that I embellished with bead embroidery. I did this piece about 2 years ago, and it has since been waiting for inspiration on it’s next step. I showed it to 3-month old Grace and she was very excited by it. Maybe it’s time to move this piece on to the next step.
